This course is appropriate for masters and clinical level social workers. Jennifer graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisville, Kentucky. She specializes in school-based psychotherapy with children and adolescents, as well as licensing exam coaching and preparation.

Course Description:
This course was designed for use by clinicians who work with mental health and substance abuse clients with concurrent anger problems. The course describes a 12-week cognitive behavioral anger management group treatment. The treatment model described in this course is a combined cognitive behavioral therapy approach that employs relaxation, cognitive, and communication skills interventions.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe a conceptual framework and rationale for anger management treatment
  2. Describe how to analyze an anger episode and to identify the events and cues that indicate an escalation of anger
  3. Summarize how to teach group members cognitive behavioral strategies for controlling their anger
  4. Evaluate the application of the aggression cycle and learn how to apply progressive muscle relaxation, the A-B-C-D Model, the technique of thought-stopping, and the Conflict Resolution Model
  5. Gain an understanding of how interactions with parents and families influence current behaviors

Course Completion Requirements: All course materials are included in your AATBS student account. Attendees must read the course material and complete the accompanying test with a score of 75% or higher. Customers may retest if they score below 75%.

Evaluation: The course evaluation is also accessible in your student account. After completing the course, you will need to complete the course evaluation.

How certificate is issued: When all requirements for the course have been successfully completed, customers will be able to access and print a personal CE certificate in their student account.
