Course Description: This course is meant to provide information on the challenges and experiences encountered by mental health professionals when working with victims of human trafficking. In this course, a qualitative study of 130 victims of human trafficking is reviewed. Results of the analysis are provided to identify methods by which the mental health professional learned of the patient’s trafficking history, as well as key challenges to the provision of care. An analysis of the demographics and experiences of the patients is also provided. Finally, this course also provides considerations for improving the provision and availability of services for individuals who have been trafficked.
